[This is the English translation of the article 'Flitsend de toekomst in' that is published in the Dutch educational magazine Educare in April 2004]Flashing into the future - the price of entertainmentHuib Kraaijeveld & Albert Toby
"I'm the slime oozing out of your TV-set." Frank ZappaOn a Sunday afternoon. . in 2000 I was enjoying the prospect of going to our monthly Sunday night. With a group of friends we would normally get together to meditate, eat the delicious meals our hostess made for us, have fun and enthusiastically share about each others work in different fields of alternative therapy. But this one turned out to be quite different. Just before dinner our host mentioned something he was upset about (he has a young son who watches TV...); he had found some sort of hidden messages in two different television programs. He showed it to us at normal speed and it seemed just a blur. He then slowed it down so we could see what was actually there. And we were shocked. So shocked that we underestimated the impact it had on ourselves - despite all our combined professional knowledge and extensive experience. The rest of the evening was a disaster. We argued up to the point that some people almost ran away. This never happened before and it proved to be our last Sunday evening together. Later we suddenly realized this might have had something to do with the messages on the video tape. What are children consuming unwantedly while they are watching TV and what effect can this have on them? This appears to be much more than discussions on violence in TV programs indicate. The book Friendship with God includes an interesting little dialogue on this subject: "(Walsch) Entertainment industry executives deny that TV, movie, and video images, however violent, are responsible for young people's violent behavior." (God:) "Are these the same executives that sell Super Bowl commercials for a half-million dollars apiece, claiming that they can influence behaviors in sixty seconds?" [1] Yet this influence can already take place in sixteen or even three seconds, as you will see. If you value your children's and your own freedom, the information is this article might be important to you. See for yourself. The first findings were made in an erotic program is called Adult Television Entertainment, an American production broadcasted and repeated by the TV-station SBS6 in the Netherlands around 1999-2001. It also appears to have been broadcasted in Luxembourg and the UK . This is the period in which George W. Bush came to power and declared the "War on Terrorism".
In that same period we discovered equal subliminal messages in a trailer broadcasted by KETNET (BRT: the Belgium national television broadcast) before a Walt Disney cartoon. This children's program of the BRT can be received on the Dutch cable. It is not completely clear who edited these images. It appears that the KETNET logo was edited on top of the subliminals. If this is true, Disney's motto "We want to make people happy" gets something sinistre. This time symbols were used. Symbolic language is a universal language, so it does not matter what verbal language children are raised in - they'll get the programming. [3]
Does this brainwashing have any relation to the zombie-like state, aggressiveness, fatigue and development problems most children are experiencing nowadays? Personally I have the strong impression that these two findings are only a fraction of the full scale strategy. The fact alone that we found these messages, that are supposed to be hidden, indicates something. We ourselves do not have the time nor the equipment to check every program broadcasted - which does not make much sense to me either. I do see a new trend of more and faster 'flashing' trailers in TV programs. MTV is setting this trend. According to insiders this has something to do with the increasing number of 'beats per minute' (BPM) in modern pop music. That may be so, yet they also offer a great cover for these types of hidden messages. The executive of SBS Broadcasting, with whom I made an appointment, stated he was shocked by what we found. Yet the executive responsible for buying ATE immediately became cynical and claimed this was a 'sick joke' performed by a lonely editor. Who has the power to structurally get this kind of edits into various programs of different broadcasters? And who profits from a world population believing these hidden messages? See for yourself, but realize that mass manipulation can only work when it goes far beyond what people can imagine .. In the rest of this article the effectiveness of subliminal programming is further explained. Also a broader context is given in order to understand better what we found and what that means. References to the global politics and creating confusion through increasing fear are made on purpose. How are subliminal messages effective? Some people may have heard of NLP - Neuro Linguistic Programming. It "studies the structure of how human beings think and experience the world. Obviously, the structure of something so subjective does not lend itself to precise, statistical formulae but instead leads to models of how these things work. From these models, techniques for quickly and effectively changing thoughts, behaviors and beliefs that limit you have been developed." [6] This sort of knowledge can of course be used for different purposes. I use it in daily work as an EMF-practitioner [7] or as a business facilitator, for example to suit the way somebody's processing information. NLP is used in all kinds of therapies. Brandon Bays' Journey [8] is a wonderful example of how NLP is used for healing the physical body and emotional traumas. Experiments in schools showed that children who did self-esteem tests on paper imprinted with the hidden message 'you are loved' scored 15% better than those who had regular paper. Underachievers even scored an average of 34,7% higher than they normally did. [9] This may sound like a great solution for all sorts of educational problems. Yet think about how children become insecure in the first place. Through exactly the same manipulation technique, greatly reinforced by their parents and teachers, children are made to believe they are small, insignificant and need to prove themselves in tests to deserve love and recognition. Still, this article deals with something else than just conflicting theories on how to raise children. Techniques like NLP are not only used for 'personal development' reasons by e.g. sales people and politicians, for whom this is part of their standard training. [10] The powers of NLP are also used in other ways. A wellknown example of how it is misused by a producer of consumer goods to increase their sales is Coca Cola, who was fined for putting the sentence "I'm thirsty" on the screen in cinema breaks to stimulate their soft drink sales. [11] There are many tapes for sale the promise the buyer better concentration, more memory storage or more selfconfidence through the use of positive affirmations. On the Internet you can even order New Age music guarantying the buyer that within ten minutes you'll get sex with whomever you expose this music to, because of thousands of hidden messages that "arouses their sexual excitement aimed solely at you". [12] .If this works, this means that somebody can be manipulated into having sex without their own awareness (while believing it's because of their free will). Although it is widely believed the subliminals have little effect on human behaviour, more than 500 scientific papers have been published confirming the effectiveness of subliminals [13] . The independency of these research sources strengthens their credibility. Science is increasingly used to support very doubtful 'truths'. A good example of this is the medical field, in which pharmaceutical companies with huge commercial interests have no particular need for any objective truth. This is easily achieved: many research funds only become available when the outcomes are agreed on beforehand. And life is made miserable for those who reveal parts of the truth. Subliminal programming is not some new fashion. The knowledge of subliminal programming goes back to ancient times with scholars like Plato and Aristotle mentioning the phenomenon. Subliminal means 'below threshold' because the messages are communicated at a level that the conscious mind doesn't register, but the subconscious certainly does. Technically this is done by including one picture into a set of 24 per second that make a moving picture look like more than a slideshow of still pictures. Producers of movies like The Exorcist and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre have publicly admitted that they contained violent and frightening subliminals. The use of subliminals is supposed to be illegal in some countries and the Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms (ATF) in the United States says that subliminals are inherently deceptive because the consumer does not perceive them at a normal level of awareness and is given no choice whether to accept or reject the message. [14] .Funny then that nothing is done about the subliminals that abound in advertising or about political campaigns in which this manipulation techniques are used on a wide scale - according to David Icke (see frame). An example of this can be found in the image below. It is the subliminal implant of RATS in a Bush commercial attacking Al Gore in the 2000 'election' campaign. The word RATS in 'democrats' is highlighted by capitals: democRATS. These commercials are very expensive and are being made by the best advertising agencies. Therefore you can assume that they knew what they were doing and that this technique works. It was not subliminal enough and could be seen by slightly slowing down the tape. [15] This was exactly the same way how Albert found out about the messages on KETNET and SBS6.
But how can this work, if we can't see it? The picture (left) carries a very clear subliminal message, or at least when it's pointed out. Can you see it? Apparantly about five percent of the people see the sublimal word at first sight and the rest are amazed when it is made clear for them. If you haven't seen it, look at the white areas and not the plants. Your eyes go to the plants, but it is most often in the background that subliminals are posted. Do you see the word SEX now? Techniques for mind control are effective as long as they trigger some hidden part in human subconscious. So, the more repressed you are sexually, the more attrackted you will be to the flower picture. In a country were homosexuality is taboo, a penis will attrackt males' attention subconsciously. Subliminal pictured phallusses were for example found in ads for male clothing. When you are influenced by subliminal manipulation like this in making a choice in comparable consumer goods, this phenomenon is called 'deception. 'Well, commercial interests may even be a childish goal to trick someone into making a choice. Although, looking at the message 'bombs keep us free', I can't help thinking about the American Defense Budget that has raised to a new height of more than 375 trillion dollars since 9/11. But it appears there is a even more hidden agenda than a commercial one that is forwarded by this kind of manipulation ..
This agenda can be easily discovered when you keep in mind how hypnosis works. Hypnosis as a technique is neutral - like NLP one can use this for therapeutical, entertainment, and for evil purposes. Hypnosis affects people on a level where resistance is low. So the influence of external programming is higher. By repeating a message a frame of reference can be changed or created. An example of this is the human taste. In popular forms of 'stage-hypnosis' someone can eat a lemon and claim it is sweet. The messages that have bombarded us thourgh the media these last years have been "Bin Laden did it", "Irak has weapons of mass destruction" and "America liberates the Iraqi people". The proof for these claims is missing, yet - just like with the sweet lemon - they appear to be true. And even when in hindsight the opposite is been proven, like with the Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, the intention behind spreading this message is not questioned. "The world is safer without Saddam." Th rest of the sentence is been left unsaid: "..and as long as you believe this message, we will stay in Iraq, exploit its oil resources and give huge construction contracts to the very same business partners that delivered us the bombs to demolish Iraq in the first place." This appears a kind of divide-and-rule politics unprecedented in (known) world history. But I guess by now you understand that the truth is seldom the same as the opinion of the mayority.
For parents another way to create a new frame of reference might be more relevant. This concerns an image created by the Dutch media aiming at the willingness of parents to have their children vaccinated. Recently one of the standard Dutch vaccinations was in the news, because it was claimed it causes paralysis in children. Yet, the media try to paint a new image. Parents who refuse to have their children vaccinated are being projected as irresponsible parents, who risk losing their children to diseases and do not care about it. By the use of this image a deep human fear is triggered. Social pressure will also try and push parents into complying. However, the proof of the advantages and innocence of vaccinations is very doubtful [17] . In this way different phenomena are being confused (no vaccination = death = bad & fear = control = good), while the impression is being given that this confusion is correct. In relation to this I find it remarkable that no press or public attention was given to the commotion about the genetic database of the Dutch government. When this was unveiled, parents could ask for the data on their children to be destroyed. But how is that possible, when the database was claimed to be 'anonymous'? As Douglas Adams once said, television does not exist to deliver programs to its audiences, but to deliver audiences to its advertisers. [18] We might somehow know or feel that when we look at another annoying advertisement for washing powder. Yet, this is still something else than getting our free will delivered - without us knowing that - to whomever wish to control and manipulate that. I call that fascism.
Break the enchantment If only some percent of this mass manipulation through the media is true, it seems important for you to know this as parents - but also for yourself as a human being. Then it is also important to know that this hypnotic spell on you and your children can easily be broken. Our collective human subconscious is undergoing a bombardment of all kinds of hidden messages, through more than TV alone. By triggering comon fears, like the fear for danger, shortage, death, diseases or the social fear to be ejected by the herd, these kinds of messages impact human behaviour deeply. These instincts are seated in our R-(reptilian) brain, the deepest part of our brain near the brain stem. When these instincts are triggered externally neither our will nor our intellect has any influence on them. They work automatically and that is why this kind of manipulation is so effective. This article has aimed to proof that subliminal manipulation through television is not some farfetched (conspiracy) theory [19] , but reality. We deliver proof that implies that we are being scared constantly and on purpose. I do hope this article creates a momentum to stop practices like this. It would be great if you could activate your own channels, so that governments are forced to respond to this. Yet, this is not enough: to me it seems unwise to just ask for the authorities to 'do something about is', and by doing so putting the whole responsibility in their hands and the hands of the legal system. The legal system spends most of its energy to maintain itself, not to create a more just society [20]. And is the government acting on behalf of its citizens? Why then do they support wars that the majority of the people is opposed to? For example, the Dutch statesman Hoogervorst is now creating new black-and-white images of alternative health care by calling all homeopathic doctors 'quackery'. But still, the actions of individual people can indeed make a difference - especially when there are many! I can imagine you can have different reactions after reading this article. These first two are the most logical: to be frightened or to not let it in. If you are experiencing this first reaction it helps to breathe deeply a couple of times; adding even more fear does not help. If you have the second reaction a little riddle might be useful. Who said this? 'An evil exist that threatens every man, woman and child of this great nation. We must take steps to ensure our domestic security and protect our homeland.' [21] Suprise: this was not Bush, but Hitler at the announcement of the Gestapo. This was scheduled after Hitler had made others set fire to the Reichstag and blamed the communists. I assume you can see the parallel with September 11. These kinds of lies and ways to manipulate public opinion can be easily recognized - if you know what to look for. I personnally see very little difference with what happened in Germany in the 1930's, except that the scale is now much larger and the technology is now more advanced. Probably nobody knows exactly the full scale of this mass manipulation. But in any case now nobody can deny there are subliminal messages in TV programs. As the Germans did in the 1930's, we also passively or actively allow certain groups to continue their power plays. This they achieve partly by brainwashing our children. When they grow up, they will not know better. The main actors in this play do not even hesitate to kill one million children in Iraq and call this 'to liberate them' or 'collateral damage', as Albright did [22]. The misuse of language to create confusion and control was called 'Newspeak' by George Orwell. [23] The pen is indeed mightier than the sword. It is also possible that you became curious and want to know more or do something yourself. I passionately recommend David Icke's latest book 'Tales from the Time Loop' [24] to anyone who appreciates a different look on reality. But maybe you first need to dismantle to programmed belief 'you want truth, but you need lies' within yourself .. You are also welcome to contact me through my website. I hope you do something constructive with this information. But if the one and only effect of this article is that- when you catch yourself encouraging your children to watch more TV and to get themselves entertained - you make time and play with them . then I'll be happy.
